Had we remained strangers

With every smile on your face
My heart beats a little,
As every beat it takes
It breaks a little,
In my veins as blood refills
I curse myself
For being so selfish,
To see you smile is I always wanted.

See how time changes,
How it changes us,
Love, turned into poison,
You left running in my nerves,
One day it was the reason
Of my existence,
Now it’s boiling inside
Like some acid concentrate,

I shouldn’t have said those words,
We should’ve never met,
I shouldn’t have touched
Your cheeks, your hands, your lips,
It wouldn’t have turned out this evil
Had we remained strangers.

Every line is linked in this piece. Every word of love, loss and regret comes through and is connected right from the first line. Every word serves its purpose. Great capture of the essence.
