BICYCLE

I walked backwards
I did the headstand
I mimicked, I juggled
And the private dance
To make it interesting

I tried to understand
Your deliberate nonsense
I ate and swallowed up my offense
And wriggled on your palm
To keep it working

I did what I could
But I can’t
I can’t be the only wheel of the bicycle
I can climb the mountain on one leg though
But I can’t withstand the pain of indifference
I can’t be the only wheel of the bicycle
And keep dragging it

I gulped the pills you brought
Bitter ones in one draught
I fell all dull and numb
Hoped it will end the drought
I vanished and succumbed
‘Cause you desired

I couldn’t chew the sweat
I couldn’t drink the dust

But I did what I could
And I can’t
I can’t be the only wheel of the bicycle
I can climb the mountain on one leg though
But I can’t withstand the pain of indifference
I can’t be the only wheel of the bicycle
And keep dragging it

To nowhere.

  1. A declaration of love, nevertheless …

  2. Great post ! Thank You for sharing this 😊

  3. This reminds me of the majority of relationships, where one is always the one doing all the hard work, and the other part just seem to drift along the river, waiting for things to happen. Indifference indeed.
To be the one pulling and tugging is draining and tiring. Too tiring.

  4. I can relate definitely relate to this ☺️ I’m sure others would say the same. Thank you
