Time to cut loose

Bend. Stoop. Spread. Unfold.
“Do when you are asked”, you were told.
Strip off. Sink in
It’s not your job to do the thinking.
Obey. Sacrifice. Follow.
“You’re not allowed to spit out,
Just swallow!”
Needy,
Fragile,
Dependent,
You were taught so, so you intent.

Caged in social prison
Handcuffed by traditions
Blindfolded with obligations
Hanging on expectations

Untitled

Because
All that your mother said
Was a lie.
All that you think is right
Is a lie.
All that you use to believe in
Is a lie.

No more sulking tears behind closed doors
No, you don’t need a shoulder to cry on
No more seeking approval to cross over doorsill
You are supposed to
Bend. Stoop. Spread. Unfold.
And just not that but everything that you were told
Only at your will.

  1. Yes. Restrictions, obligations, rules that follow us and make us follow them back. Rut.
Such spot on emotion and truth.
I have missed your words immensely, darling.
