You always understood
Just not the words
But the touch of my hands
Moisture of the eyes
Lump in my throat
Crinkle on forehead
Unfurl of Goosebumps
Pale and red of my face
You always knew when I was sad or afraid
Or I needed space

And when you walk out that door
How should I not scream?
When I know you’ll never come back
What should I say to stop you from walking away?
‘Coz no one else can fill your place
Miracles don’t happen everyday

Why don’t you understand now?
When I say
“Please stay!”
When I touch your hand
I’m crying and chocking to death
Have you lost your ability to feel?
Or you’re out of your mind
Or something erased your memory?
You’ll never free my soul
May you go away today

And when you walk out that door
How should I not scream?
When I know you’ll never come back
What should I say to stop you from walking away?
‘Coz no one else can fill your place
Miracles don’t happen everyday

Miracles don’t happen everyday…
