Brothers

Who thought that for the independence we fought?

Would lead us standing against each other,

Remember we were always together?

Through all the lows and the highs,

Through all the weathers,

We shared the small thing inside our chest,

But few people ripped us apart, pierced our hearts,

For their ugly quest,

Gone are the days when we were one,

For one another we always cared,

We lived under the same roof,

We ate the same bread,

We always shared,

Celebrated Rakhi and Eid with equal joy,

And now these boarders divide us, why?

Our fathers saw a dream with their open eyes,

For the future, where peace and harmony lies,

See what has happened,

We are into the future but with no one,

Everyone is alone with no peace around,

Only the broken pieces we found,

Let not few people misguide us,

Let not them divide us apart,

For us peace is in equality,

Independence in hearts,

Let us join our hands together,

Come as one forever,

We are the same blood,

From different mothers,

We are brothers!

  1. God made us even…and we created boundaries, caste, religion and what all….it was still good…then we added hatred in it…now we keep on living in the past and hoping against hope

  2. This is simply amazing Neeraj. I read it and I was over-whelmed with the idea how the dream of our fathers have been mislead. They never wanted us to develop hatred for each other – boundaries in no way meant the enmity; we definitely all are and will always be BROTHERS!!!

  3. from across the world, I hear your pain…so I pray for you all to my God, knowing this may offend you in some way, I still pray. May God Bless You All and bring Peace to your lives! To this day, I do NOT understand how humankind can be so inhumane! WE ARE ALL brothers and sisters…science has proven it repeatedly…maybe someday I can hug you and say “Peace to you, my sister.” till then, I will enjoy your writing…it touches me deeply.
